MATT TYNER TOWSON - HEAD COACH
As a student athlete, you have put your heart and soul into chasing a dream - the dream of playing baseball at the collegiate level. As a non-recruited high school athlete I can tell you that as I loaded the last box into the car and prepared to hit the road to Miami I was scared. I had no idea what the future would hold for me as a baseball player and as a student.
I notified the University of Miami that I would be attending walk on tryouts and that I would give it my all. Obviously, it went well for me and I enjoyed a 4-year career that propelled me into professional baseball. That can happen to you as well.
Nobody knows what is going to happen to you in the next 4 years. As a matter of fact, nobody knows what is going to happen to you next week.
Can you do it?
* If you can check the box that says your decision was not just baseball focused, but academics as well, then the answer is yes.
* If you can check the box that said I did my homework on the program and it was a fit for me as a player then the answer is yes.
* If you can check the box that says I am in the best mental and physical shape of my life then the answer is yes.
If you can check the boxes that include the words commitment, accountability, communication, consistency, and most importantly ready to have some fun then the answer is yes, you can do it.
To be sure, there will be challenges, but if you accept them on a daily basis and give yourself a chance to work through them, you will grow as a player and as a person.
The answer to your future is all within your control. You’ve prepped, you’ve prepared, now it’s time to go give it your all.
Stay positive, chase that dream!"
